If you’re shopping for midsize pickup trucks, you have no shortage of quality options. The 2025 Jeep Gladiator and 2025 Ford Ranger are both superb options. Let’s review the pluses and minuses of both to see which one is right for you.
VS.
The Gladiator comes in eight trims, ranging from the budget-conscious Sport model to the well-appointed Mojave X. The Ranger comes in four configurations, from the affordable XL to the pricier Raptor. We’ll find most of what these vehicles have to offer without too many upgrades, so let’s review the standard features of the 2025 Jeep Gladiator Sport vs. the 2025 Ford Ranger XLT.
The Gladiator comes with a peppy 3.6L V6 engine, delivering 285 horsepower, 260 lb-ft torque, 6,000 lb towing capacity, and a payload of 1,100 lbs. As the first-ever trail-rated pickup truck, its 4×4 system with 8-speed automatic transmission puts you in control of a smooth ride. With an estimated fuel economy of 17 MPG city / 22 MPG highway, the Gladiator offers excellent efficiency for its class.
The Ranger has a 2.3L EcoBoostĀ® engine under the hood for 270 horsepower. Featuring a 10-speed automatic transmission and an estimated 20 MPG city / 25 MPG highway in the rear-wheel drive model, the Ranger is also a sensible choice.
Overall, both the Gladiator and Ranger are very good performers in most environments.
The Jeep Gladiator is equipped with an impressive set of safety features. Standard driver-assistance or safety features include electronic stability control with anti-roll, traction control, brake assist, and adaptive cruise control with stop & go, but it is overall unfussy, putting the driver in control.
The Ford Ranger holds its own in terms of safety. The Ranger boasts a driver assist package that includes pre-collision assist, blind spot information and lane-keeping systems, and more.
If you want an inviting interior that is well-equipped but not distracting, you’ll probably like the Gladiator. Step inside to discover plenty of modern comforts, but the real magic happens when you remove the doors, fold down the windshield, and experience the open air. The infotainment system features 8-speaker audio, voice-activated controls, wireless phone connectivity, and too many amenities to list here.
We have no major complaints about the Ranger’s interior. With single-zone manual air conditioning (or optional dual-zone automatic temperature control), adjustable bucket seats, and a flow-through center console with floor shifter, comfort shouldn’t be an issue. 6-speaker audio, SiriusXMĀ® satellite radio and more add up to an adequate infotainment setup.
Jeep is celebrated for highly capable, rugged vehicles that emphasize freedom and a connection with the outdoors. The 2025 Gladiator is a perfect example. The 2025 Ford Ranger is also very well equipped. Both are excellent, but in our opinion, the Jeep Gladiator pulls out ahead.
